6th Grade

In the 6th grade, students explore the beginning of human society with an in-depth look at early civilizations. Students are introduced to the Bible by studying the Old Testament and its connection to our current social needs. Sixth grade students are provided with a variety of opportunities to write narrative, argumentative, informative, and creative pieces. We continue to apply close reading and analytical skills in order to read, discuss, and write about different genres of literature. In math, students will cover math common core standards that include ratios, the number system, geometry, statistics, expressions, equations, and algebraic thinking. In science, students explore core concepts such as molecules that develop into organisms with different processes, and the concept of genetic inheritance.
